The Dr. Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Hospital (POCCH) has announced a free kidney screening exercise for more than 200 residents as part of efforts to promote early detection and prevention of kidney-related diseases.
According to the hospital, the screening programme is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the POCCH facility located at 120 Ikwerre Road, Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The initiative, which is being organized in partnership with Rencare Africa and the Rivers State Ministry of Health, is aimed at raising awareness about kidney health and encouraging residents to undergo regular medical checks.
Organizers noted that kidney diseases often develop silently in their early stages, making routine screening crucial for timely diagnosis and treatment.
Participants will benefit from a range of free medical services, including kidney function tests, blood pressure checks, urinalysis, and blood sugar tests. The hospital emphasized that the exercise is completely free, with no hidden charges or consultation fees.
The screening programme is also being held in support of the official launch of the POCCH Dialysis Unit, a development expected to strengthen access to kidney care services in the state.
Residents seeking additional information about the exercise have been advised to contact the organizers via 09127244933.
The hospital described the initiative as part of its commitment to delivering better care, promoting stronger kidney health, and building healthier communities.
