A Rivers State-based cardiologist, Dr Emmanuel Ovundah Nyeche, has been selected as one of two Nigerians for the 2026 World Heart Federation Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Programme in Cardiovascular Science.
Nyeche, a Consultant Cardiologist at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) and former Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), emerged among a select group of young professionals chosen for the international cardiovascular leadership programme.
His selection marks a major milestone in his medical career and places him among emerging professionals from different parts of the world recognised for their potential to advance cardiovascular science and leadership.
The programme will also provide Nyeche with an opportunity to represent Rivers State and Nigeria on an international platform while contributing to global conversations and initiatives in cardiovascular health.
