The Rivers State High Court will commence its annual judicial vacation on July 20, 2026, with the break scheduled to end on September 15, 2026.
The announcement was made by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, in a statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the court, David Ihua-Maduenyi. The statement noted that regular court sittings will resume on September 16, 2026.
It explained that the vacation is being observed in line with the provisions of Order 49, Rule 4(D) of the High Court of Rivers State Civil Procedure Rules, 2023, as amended.
During the vacation period, all High Court divisions across the state will remain closed. However, the court assured that urgent and deserving cases will still be heard by vacation judges specially appointed by the Chief Judge.
The annual recess is a standard judicial practice intended to give judges time off while ensuring that access to justice remains available for matters requiring immediate attention.
