The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has eliminated several terrorists during a precision airstrike in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest, as part of ongoing military operations in the North-East.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters i disclosed that the operation, conducted on April 19 under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted terrorists hiding in fortified structures and bunkers within the forest.
According to the statement, the strike followed credible intelligence supported by Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), which confirmed the presence of active terrorist elements in the area. Air assets subsequently engaged the targets with precision munitions, destroying the structures, neutralising multiple fighters, and dismantling key logistics facilities.
A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the success of the operation, with officials noting that sustained air offensives have continued to weaken terrorist networks in the region. The NAF said the increasing operational pressure has left the groups more exposed, forcing them into reactive and desperate actions.
Reaffirming the military’s commitment, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, stated that the service would maintain relentless, intelligence-driven operations until terrorist elements are fully neutralised.
“The Nigerian Air Force will sustain relentless, intelligence-driven air operations until terrorist elements are completely neutralised. We remain committed to the protection of our personnel, the security of our nation, and the safety of all citizens,” he said.
The statement added that the force will continue to intensify precision engagements across the theatre while adhering strictly to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm.
