Social activist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain, Aisha Yesufu, has fired back at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following comments in which he reportedly mocked her over her failure to secure the NDC senatorial ticket for the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the forthcoming election.
In a post on X, Yesufu appeared to respond to Wike without initially mentioning him by name, describing him as a politician who failed to win his party’s presidential primary in 2022 and was also unsuccessful in his bid to become a running mate.
She further accused the minister of contributing to the decline of a political party that was once regarded as the largest in Africa before turning her attention to his criticism of a woman in the NDC.
“I hear say one man that did not win primaries in 2022, who even lobbied for running mate and still was not chosen… is talking about a woman in NDC,” she wrote.
The activist challenged Wike to mention her name directly, declaring that people from the Kukuruku area of Edo State “do not grovel.”
“If dem born Wike well, make e call my name with his full chest!” she stated.
Yesufu also referenced the events of the 2022 presidential primary, saying what former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal did to Wike during the contest would be “child’s play” compared to what she could do politically.
The exchange comes after Wike reportedly ridiculed Yesufu for her inability to secure the NDC’s FCT senatorial ticket, escalating a war of words between the two.
