A social commentator and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Solomon Lenu, has described the silence of Siminalayi Fubara as “painfully piercing” and frustrating to many supporters, while suggesting that the governor may be pursuing a larger political strategy.
In a statement, Lenu said the governor’s quiet disposition amid growing political tension in Rivers State has left many loyalists discouraged and confused. However, he maintained that the governor’s conduct may not be without purpose.
According to him, before becoming governor, Fubara was widely known for his generosity and support for people, including individuals who had done little to merit such assistance.
Lenu argued that such a personality could not suddenly transform into what critics now describe as an uncaring leader, especially with the authority and opportunities available to him as governor.
He said although many supporters are frustrated by the governor’s silence, he still believes there may be “light at the end of the tunnel.”
The APC chieftain further noted that politics is dynamic and often overwhelming, adding that Fubara’s refusal to react to mounting criticism and pressure could indicate that he is focused on a bigger plan.
While admitting that he does not know the governor’s exact intentions, Lenu expressed hope that whatever strategy is being pursued would ultimately benefit the people of Rivers State, especially supporters who have remained patient through difficult times.
He concluded by praying for the success of Rivers State under the leadership of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
