Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he owes Rivers State and the FCT to President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Wike made the statement while explaining his recent return to Port Harcourt, saying his presence in the state was not aimed at relocating but at reconnecting with his political base and strengthening his influence.
He described himself as the “General Commander of the Political Infantry” in Rivers State and the FCT, insisting that he would not remain passive while the opposition sought to defeat Tinubu in 2027.
According to him, his return to Port Harcourt was to ensure that nothing was left to chance ahead of the election.
“My coming to Port Harcourt is not about relocating. It is about coming home to reconnect with my people, do what I do best, and not leave anything to chance,” Wike said.
He added that holding the office of governor was not the only way to exercise political influence in a state.
“You do not need to be governor to be in charge of a state. I am the General Commander of the Political Infantry in Rivers and FCT. I cannot sit with folded hands in Abuja and allow Atiku to win the election,” he said.
