MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And he spoke a parable unto them to this that men ought always to pray and not to faint.”(LK.18:1).
READ: LK.18:1-8
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Prayer is an essential part of the Christian life and experience. To the child of God, prayer is just not talking to” but a talking with”. In the formers, a one-way communication is involved but in the latter both parties are involved. Prayer is a two-way communication between the child of God and the Lord. It does not only involve petition and supplication, worship, consecration, and thanksgiving. The Christian is enjoined to pray always (Eph.6:18), without ceasing (1thess.5:17) and in faith (Mak.11:24). Prayer is a great experience to those who understand the formula.
In our focal scripture, Jesus stated categorically that men should always pray and not faint. Beloved, if there is any time in the history of the world that we should maintain a consistent prayer life, it is now. There is so much and uncertainty in the world. Demonic operations and attacks are experienced every day. Only the power of God, drawn down on the altar can silence the enemy and establish the kingdom of God on earth. Sometimes, folks get discouraged when their prayers are not immediately answered. Some in the feeling of hurts and pains due to disappoint angrily walk away from the altar of prayer. Satan knows that the only way to break his hold over your life is by maintaining a consistent prayer life that is why he tries to stop you. Don’t let him succeed. Consistent prayer life is the key to continuous flow of goodness, mercies and testimonies.
TURNING POINT: Consistent prayer life is the key to continuous flow of goodness, mercies and testimonies.
PRAYER POINT: Father, help me to keep my prayer altar burning always.
