The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has appealed to the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other candidates not to abandon the party following a recent Federal High Court judgment in Lokoja.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, Dickson dismissed reports suggesting that some candidates were considering leaving the party after the court ruling.
The controversy arose after Justice Isah Dashen of the Federal High Court in Lokoja on Friday nullified the court’s earlier judgment of December 10, 2025, which had directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.
According to the judge, the earlier ruling affected the rights of the Peace Movement Party, which claimed ownership of the logo used to secure the registration order but was not included in the original suit.
Reacting to concerns over the judgment, Dickson described the situation as an attempt to create confusion but maintained that the party remained united and focused.
He assured members that the party’s candidates had already emerged through the proper process and that necessary steps were being taken to upload their details to the INEC portal.
Dickson expressed confidence that the candidates would participate in the election and appear on the ballot, urging members to remain calm and dismiss any fears over the party’s future.
