The All Progressives Congress has rescheduled its presidential primary election from May 15–16 to May 23, 2026, while governorship primaries will now take place on May 21, 2026, following adjustments to its timetable for the 2027 general elections.
The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, announced the changes after the 186th National Working Committee meeting held in Abuja on Thursday. He explained that the revised schedule also affects key processes, including the screening of aspirants and the handling of appeals.
According to Meseko, the updated timetable aligns with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 elections.
He noted that party forms will be on sale from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while the submission deadline for completed forms is now May 4, 2026. Screening for aspirants across legislative, governorship, and presidential positions is scheduled to hold between May 6 and May 9, with results to be released on May 11.
Appeals arising from the screening process will be addressed between May 12 and May 13, 2026, as part of the party’s revised roadmap leading up to the 2027 polls.
