Veteran Nigerian actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, widely known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
Jacobs was one of the most celebrated figures in Nigerian theatre, television and film, with a career spanning several decades. He featured in more than 120 Nollywood productions and earned international recognition for his performances in films including The Dogs of War, Pirates and Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend.
He later established himself as a prominent force in Nollywood, appearing in acclaimed productions such as Oloibiri, Dry, Adesuwa, Potomanto and The Royal Hibiscus Hotel.
The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, which premiered in 2017, was his final film appearance and marked the close of an illustrious screen career that connected Nigeria’s pioneering generation of actors with the modern Nollywood industry.
