The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has revealed that another child was abandoned at his residence prompting immediate notification of the authorities.
In a statement, the cleric said he had informed the police and would transfer custody of the child to the Ministry of Social Welfare in line with legal requirements.
“Another boy has just been abandoned at my gate. I have informed the police, and I will be handing him over to the Ministry of Social Welfare,” he said.
Apostle Chinyere emphasized that he is currently unable to accept any new children into his care due to ongoing registration processes with the relevant authorities.
“Please note that I cannot accept any new children until I have completed registration with the Ministry of Social Welfare. The law must be followed,” he stated.
He expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Social Welfare and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) for guiding him on proper procedures.
“I thank the Ministry of Social Welfare and FIDA for educating me on the right thing to do,” he added.
The cleric reiterated that no additional children would be admitted into his home until his legal team concludes the registration process with the Rivers State Ministry of Social Welfare.
“I will be calling the Ministry of Social Welfare to take custody of the boy because it is illegal for me to accept him at this time. I cannot accept him,” he said, noting that there are already over 500 children under his care.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
