The All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended the substitution of some candidates after its primary elections, saying the changes were lawful and made through the party’s established appeal process.
Speaking on ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, rejected claims that the party unfairly replaced candidates or awarded tickets to individuals who did not participate in the primaries.
Morka explained that the party received over 720 petitions from dissatisfied aspirants following the primaries. According to him, the complaints were reviewed by appeal committees, whose recommendations were submitted to the National Working Committee for consideration and approval.
He said the approved substitutions were valid outcomes of the internal review process and fully complied with the party’s procedures.
The APC spokesman further stressed that the primary election process does not end with voting, noting that the appeal mechanism is a key component of the exercise rather than a separate stage.
