Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election, alleging that the process was marred by widespread disenfranchisement and irregularities.
The former Rivers State Governor, in a statement posted on his X handle after Tuesday’s exercise, described the announced results as invalid, insisting they did not reflect the will of delegates.
Amaechi said he could not accept what he termed a flawed outcome, alleging that many eligible voters were denied participation across different parts of the country.
“Following reports of widespread voter disenfranchisement… I reject the concocted results being announced,” he stated, adding that the process fell short of acceptable democratic standards.
He recalled that he had earlier pledged to only accept the outcome if the election was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, stressing that his position remained unchanged.
Amaechi also accused the party leadership of failing to uphold the principles the ADC claims to represent, particularly its promise to offer Nigerians a credible political alternative.
