The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Rivers State, Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, has rejected allegations that the party’s governorship primary election held on May 24, 2026, was manipulated to favour certain individuals.
One of the aspirants, Allen Ezekiel-Hart, had reportedly questioned the outcome of the exercise, insisting he won the primary and vowed to seek redress through the party’s constitutional processes. He also cautioned fellow aspirant Dr. Farah Dagogo against invoking the name of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to strengthen claims of victory.
Responding to the allegations on Wednesday, Dimkpa said the party leadership conducted the primary with transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to the ADC constitution and electoral guidelines.
According to him, all aspirants were adequately informed about the procedures leading to the exercise and were given equal opportunities to participate.
The ADC chairman maintained that the emergence of Dr Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson as the party’s governorship candidate reflected the collective will and overwhelming support of delegates and stakeholders from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
