The Rivers State Police Command says it has put in place a five-man taskforce to ensure due compliance with the directives of the IGP’s on the ban of some activities of FSARS personnel across the state.
Commissioner of Police in the State, Joseph Mukan disclosed this in a statement in Port Harcourt. This was after a meeting with Heads of tactical units of the command.
The team is to be spearheaded by Innocent Umeri, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, CSP. Chris Amanyi (CP Monitoring Unit), SP Daramola Kazeem (O/C Surveillance CP Monitoring Unit), SP Nnamdi Omoni – Police PRO, Kwagha Nathaniel SCID, and ASP Bernard Okonkor Human Rights/CRU.
Mukan urged the members of the committee to ensure that the directive of the IGP is effectively carried out.
He appealed to members of the Public for their support to ensure the rebranding of the Police.
According to the CP, the taskforce is to: “To immediately commence the enforcement of the IGP’s Directives on FSARS and other Tactical Units.
“Embark on Routine Checks and Visits to all the Formations and Departments belonging to SARS, STS, IRT and other Tactical Units and ensure that they are in full compliance.”
“Arrest and bring to Justice any erring Officers. “To liaise with Area Commanders and other Senior Officers, in the course of carrying out their duties,” among others.
He furthermore warned that any of the committee members who fails to carryout his duty effectively will face the full wrath of the command.
