American music icon Lionel Richie, has been hospitalised in St Louis, Missouri, after reportedly falling ill following his concert at The Muny in Forest Park on Saturday night.
The 77-year-old singer was taken to hospital after the performance as a precaution, where he was reportedly treated in the intensive care unit while undergoing medical tests.
According to TMZ, Richie was still receiving medical attention as of Monday afternoon but was expected to be discharged on Tuesday.
Sources reportedly said the singer sought treatment out of an abundance of caution, with dehydration among the possible causes being considered by doctors.
Concerns about Richie’s health arose during the final moments of his St Louis performance, when concertgoers noticed that he appeared to be struggling.
While performing his famous hit “All Night Long,” the final song of the concert, Richie asked for a chair and completed the performance while seated.
