Chairman of African Action Congress AAC, in Rivers State, Mr. Progress Okpokuma has called on Governor Nyesom Wike to intervene as the father of the state, and see that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, release election grants to opposition parties in the state.
Mr. Progress in a chat with Journalists during a protest by opposition parties in Port Harcourt, today, said it is discouraging that two days to the poll, they are yet to receive the money.
He said Retd. Justice Omereji, after asking them to submit their account details, which they did, is yet to disburse the funds to them.
Mr Progress also alleged that the RSIEC Boss, once said that the monies had been released to Chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council in the state, Desmond Akawor.
He said if the grants are not given, it simply means that the election is already bias, and that there is no need to participate.
The AAC, Boss had also accused RSIEC and the People’s Democratic party of writing Saturday’s election results in favor of the ruling party.
