The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, has called on security agencies to ensure that journalists are protected, during Saturday’s local government election in the state.
State Chairman of the NUJ, Stanley Job Stanley made this known in an interview with news correspondents in Port Harcourt, on Thursday.
The NUJ Boss said journalists are frontline workers and should be adequately protected, as they go about covering the election.
He said journalists should be protected the way Adhoc staff and other electoral officers are protected.
Mr Stanley also said security agencies should ensure that no Journalist is hurt during the exercise, as he called on journalists to be professional in the discharge of their duties.
Nigeria politics is just tiresome.
