The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed as fake a circular circulating on social media claiming that students of Federal Unity Colleges nationwide have been granted an additional three-week holiday.
The Ministry, in a statement issued on Saturday, said the purported circular did not originate from it and urged the public to disregard it.
It reaffirmed that Monday, September 14, 2026, remains the approved resumption date for all Federal Unity Colleges, stressing that there is no directive extending the holiday or moving resumption to October 4.
According to the Ministry, the fake document, dated September 8 and referenced “FME/SS/UNI/2026/128,” falsely bears the name and signature of Dr. (Mrs.) Aisha Garba as Permanent Secretary.
The Ministry clarified that its Acting Permanent Secretary is Dr. Mrs. Folake Olatunji David.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, assured parents, guardians, students and other stakeholders of the Federal Government’s commitment to a safe, orderly and seamless resumption.
The Ministry urged members of the public to verify information through its official communication channels and avoid reproducing or circulating fake government documents.
It reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate, timely and transparent information.
