The Renewed Hope Rainbow Coalition Youths of Eleme have suspended further protest activities to allow a dialogue meeting scheduled for today to address their unresolved demands.
The youths, in a press briefing following their peaceful protest yesterday, said their decision to leave the road was not a sign of weakness or surrender but a demonstration of respect for stakeholders who intervened and called for dialogue.
They expressed hope that the meeting would produce a meaningful outcome, urging those involved to approach the discussions with sincerity and a genuine commitment to resolving their grievances.
The group, however, warned that it would consider further lawful actions, including peaceful demonstrations, if the dialogue failed to produce a satisfactory resolution.
“We have not abandoned our struggle, and we are not relenting on our demands,” the statement said.
The youths called on their supporters to remain calm, peaceful and united while awaiting the outcome of the meeting.
They added that they would address the public after the dialogue to communicate their next steps, stressing that their willingness to embrace dialogue should not be mistaken for a withdrawal of their demands.
