The Rivers State Government, says the adoption of electronic filing of court cases has improved judicial system in the state, and also eliminated quackery, which has bedeviled the system for years.
Chief Judge (CJ), of the State, Justice Adanma Iyayi-Lamikanra, made this known while commemorating the one year anniversary of the Rivers State Court Management System RIVCOMIS, in Port Harcourt, few days ago.
She stated that the e-filing process in courts would encourage more transparency and credence, as it has helped in online payments, virtual and remote court hearings among others.
Lamikanra also said RIVCOMIS, is one of the best things that happened to the state Judiciary, stating that if fully adopted across the country, it would make great impact.
“One common feature of the justice administration globally is delay in justice delivery. The consequences are far-reaching, as people have often resorted to self-help and jungle justice and Nigeria’s justice administration is no exception,” she said.
“Most of the laws and rules that govern the processes used in our courts today date back to the pre-independence era. They are analogue and require human intrusion to achieve the desired intention towards quality justice administration,” she added.
