The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the killing of a father of four, Kamadiye Krama, by gunmen in Emelaghan, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident and said efforts were underway to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
Krama was reportedly shot dead around 8 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, while attending a community gathering where youths were arranging canopies ahead of the coronation of a community stakeholder, Mr. ThankGod.
According to his brother, Monday Krama, the deceased was standing by and watching the preparations when the gunmen suddenly arrived and opened fire, killing him instantly.
The family has called for justice and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
Monday dismissed reports suggesting that the gathering was politically motivated, insisting that his brother was merely observing the youths as they prepared for the coronation.
The family has lodged a formal complaint at the Abua/Odual Police Division and is awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
