Amb. Blessing Fubara Snr. has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 election.
Fubara also named Comrade Uwuma Awala as his deputy governorship candidate.
He previously entered the Rivers political scene under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) before emerging as the YPP governorship candidate.
His campaign is built around the slogan, “Let’s Get It Right,” with emphasis on competence, accountability, economic renewal, infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and youth development.
Fubara has also highlighted the need for inclusive governance, political reconciliation and improved representation for Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
His running mate, Awala, hails from Ahoada East in Rivers West Senatorial District and holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from Rivers State University.
Awala has also been involved in politics since 2014, with experience in political organisation and media engagement. She contested the Ahoada East Constituency I seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
