A 39-year-old pastor with the Assemblies of God Church, Justice Anele has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl under his care, in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The girl who is an orphan later gave birth to a baby boy who died shortly after his delivery.
Pastor Anele was found guilty of unlawfully having sexual intercourse with the minor by Justice Augusta Chukwu of the State High Court.
Meanwhile, lawyer to the International Federation of Women Lawyers in Rivers State, Anyalebechi Chisom has hailed the court ruling.
She said the ruling would serve as deterrent to others.
She also called on victims of sexual harassment to speak up as there are many organizations willing to help.
