The Paramount ruler of Ekpeye Kingdom, His Majesty, Nye Udu Felix Enene has explained that they placed a ban on all harmful traditional practices in the kingdom and not juju worship.
Eze Felix, in a statement yesterday, said juju worship is a religion recognised by the constitution but harmful traditional practices are not.
He said everyone is free to practice his/her religion in the kingdom, in line with the constitution.
“Please note, we banned all secret summons and harmful traditional practices. Juju worship is a religion and it’s recognised by the Constitution of Nigeria, secret summons and harmful traditional practices are not,” he said.
His Majesty had placed a ban on all harmful traditional practices following the alleged burying of a 3-month-old baby alive, by a traditionalist in Edeoha community.
The incident, led to the death of two persons after they raided the home of the juju priest.
