The Ogoni Liberation Initiative has expressed concern over the worsening security situation in Bori, condemning the killing of Letam Kinee, popularly known as Langa, and calling for urgent measures to restore peace in the community.
In a statement signed by Dr. Fabeke Douglas, the group described the increasing level of insecurity in Bori as disturbing, stressing that attention should be focused on the town’s development rather than recurring incidents of violence.
Douglas said discussions among stakeholders should center on improving infrastructure and enhancing the wellbeing of residents instead of mourning the loss of lives caused by criminal activities.
He warned that the growing culture of hatred, hostility, and disregard for human life poses a serious threat to the peace, unity, and progress of Bori and the wider Ogoni nation.
The group urged security agencies to work closely with community leaders and residents to prevent further breakdown of law and order, while calling for the perpetrators of the killing to be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
Douglas also appealed to relevant authorities to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of both indigenes and non-indigenes in Bori, emphasizing that lasting peace remains the foundation for sustainable development.
