Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after an outstanding campaign.
The Portugal midfielder recently added to his achievements by winning the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award earlier this month.
Fernandes matched the Premier League record for most assists in a single season after registering his 20th assist in United’s clash against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
The 31-year-old has also scored eight goals in 37 league appearances, helping Manchester United finish third and secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Fernandes has created 132 chances in the league this season, the highest by any player, finishing 43 ahead of Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool FC.
He becomes the first Manchester United player to win the award since Nemanja Vidić claimed it in 2011.
