The Rivers State Police Command has arrested five individuals in Sii Community, Khana Local Government Area, over alleged ritual-related activities and intimidation within the area.
Those arrested are Chief Benedict Naalor Deezim, Nuadum Dorka Etukere, Samuel Neekia Deewii, Cletus Nuadum Kanee and Dr. Lekia Nwiko.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended on Thursday after intelligence reports and directives from the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 16, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Their arrest followed a petition submitted to the AIG by Barry Kumbe & Co., a firm of legal practitioners and arbitrators, accusing some persons in the community of engaging in unlawful ritual practices, intimidation and actions capable of creating fear and tension among residents.
The petition, dated March 10, 2025, was filed on behalf of Mr. Fortune L. Diginee and Hon. Barigbor N. Kenneth, both natives of Sii Community.
According to the petition, certain community leaders and youths were allegedly linked to the planting of charms, intimidation and incidents surrounding mysterious deaths in the community.
The acting Paramount Ruler of Sii Town, Chief Benedict Naalor Deezim, was among those specifically named in the petition alongside other community stakeholders.
