TEXT: EXODUS 11:1-10
MEMORY VERSE: “And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt” (Exodus 11:3 GNV).
Experience has shown that it is more blessed to allow God fight your battles. We cannot make impact if we take up the fight against our enemies. We may even be defeated. In our text today, we see how God dealt with Egypt and stripped them of their belongings to favour Israel.
It does not matter how long the enemy has had his way. Israelites were slaves in Egypt for over 430 years (Gen. 15:13). It was the will of God.
God deals ruthlessly with the enemies of His children. The Egyptians suffered many plagues, including the death of the firstborn of man and beast: “So the Lord brought [them] out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with miraculous signs and wonders” (Deut. 26:8 NIV). At the end, the Israelites left Egypt with the wealth of the Egyptians. The Bible says, “The Lord brought his people out of Egypt, loaded with silver and gold …” (Ps. 105:37). Again, God granted them favour and “they despoiled the Egyptians” (Ex. 12:35-36). In other words, they “plundered” them, “stripped them of their wealth,” and “carried away their wealth.” They did not fight any war. They only experienced God’s mercy, favour, and graciousness, just because they were God’s own people.
If we make ourselves God’s own people through living a life of obedience to His word, He will be gracious to us and fight for us: “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest” (Ex. 14:14 AMP). It’s an assurance is doubly sure.
- Have you experienced a situation where you passed through tough times to serve God’s purpose?
- Father, let me see my victory over my enemies and experience the blessings thereof.
