Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed optimism that the ruling All Progressives Congress will record improved electoral success in the FCT in 2027, citing growing grassroots support driven by ongoing infrastructural development across the territory.
Speaking on Tuesday after inspecting six projects slated for commissioning ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary celebrations in Abuja, Wike said residents were beginning to appreciate the impact of governance, especially in rural communities and satellite towns.
According to him, Nigerians are more concerned about visible development, improved infrastructure, electricity supply and better living standards than political rhetoric.
The minister disclosed that over 20 projects were expected to be inaugurated, noting that the number could increase with additional water and road projects nearing completion in Bwari, Karu, AMAC and other area councils.
He highlighted key projects including the Gomani–Yangoji Road and the Kuje–Gwagwalada Road, describing the expansion of infrastructure to underserved communities as a major milestone for the FCT.
Wike also challenged opposition figures and coalition groups to visit the territory and witness ongoing developments firsthand, insisting that the current administration was delivering tangible results.
Wike added that the ongoing projects reflected an inclusive development agenda that was bringing long-awaited infrastructure to rural and satellite communities across the FCT.
