The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) has called on residents to prioritise their mental health, challenge stigma and seek professional support when needed.
In a message marking World Mental Health Day on October 10, the board highlighted the importance of mental well-being to a healthy, balanced life.
It encouraged residents to take simple steps to manage their emotional well-being, such as taking short breaks, talking to loved ones and seeking professional help when necessary.
The board also called for greater understanding and inclusion of people with lived experience of mental health challenges.
“Let us move from speaking about people, to speaking with people. Let us move from silence to dialogue, and let us move from lived experience to real change,” it said.
The RSPHCMB urged residents who need support to visit its mental health facilities, reaffirming its commitment to promoting mental health for all.
The annual World Mental Health Day raises awareness of mental health issues and promotes efforts to support the mental well-being of individuals and communities.
