The Diobu Security Service (DSS), has arrested a three-man robbery gang who were allegedly attempting to rape a young lady, after robbing her of her personal belongings, at the Mile 3 axis of Diobu.
Chairman of DSS, Amatari Biobelede in a chat with Journalists, said the suspects were arrested at about 8:00 PM on Monday, by the Elechi unit of the group, headed by God’stime Ihunwo, after a distress call by residents of the area.
He said a pistol was recovered from them, as they were handed over to the Nkpolu Division of the Nigerian Police at Mile 3, for further prosecution.
The victim, Chioma Otuonye said she travelled from Abia State to visit her friend, when she ran into the robbery gang at Elechi by National street in Mile 3.
Chioma said she was robbed and beaten by the suspects who were about to rape her, before personnel of the local vigilante group came to her rescue.
She commended the security outfit for their timely response which saved her from further damages.
