The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two Chinese firms—Sanjiang Chemical Company Limited and Xinganchen (Fuzhou) Industrial Park Operation and Management Co. Ltd.—to advance the rehabilitation and operation of Nigeria’s key refineries.
The agreement focuses on a potential Technical Equity Partnership aimed at supporting the completion and efficient running of the Port Harcourt Refinery and Warri Refinery.
According to NNPC Ltd., the collaboration is expected to bring in technical expertise, operational efficiency, and investment needed to accelerate ongoing refinery rehabilitation projects. The partnership also aligns with broader efforts to boost local refining capacity, reduce dependence on imported petroleum products, and strengthen Nigeria’s energy security.
The development marks another step in NNPC’s strategy to attract international partners in revitalising critical oil and gas infrastructure across the country.
