A suspected vandal identified as Khalifa, has been electrocuted while allegedly attempting to tamper with electricity infrastructure in Oginigba Community, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The incident was confirmed by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc (PHED) in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Head of Corporate Communications, Olubukola Ilevbare. According to the company, the incident occurred around on Friday morning.
PHED disclosed that the suspect, believed to be in his late twenties, died instantly after reportedly disconnecting a pot insulator from a high-tension pole.
The company explained that the situation turned fatal when power supply was restored shortly after the equipment had been removed, leading to the electrocution.
