At least five people have been confirmed dead, while 10 others were rescued alive after a three-storey building under construction collapsed on Saturday morning in the Durumi 3 area near Gudu Market in Abuja.
Emergency responders are still conducting search-and-rescue operations at the site, located around Gaduwa Estate in the Gudu district, as more victims are feared trapped under the rubble.
Officials of the Federal Fire Service, security agencies, health workers, and local volunteers are actively involved in the ongoing rescue efforts, while anxious residents gathered at the scene to monitor developments.
The Mandate Secretary of the FCTA Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, who visited the site, confirmed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed that all injured victims receive free medical treatment.
Authorities say operations will continue until all those believed to be trapped are accounted for.
