The Nigerian Navy in Port Harcourt, has arrested one Kenneth Sunday for allegedly attempting to bribe its commander to release his seized boat used for illegal oil refining activity.
Sources say the man walked into the office of the NNS pathfinder at Rumuolumeni with the sum of seven hundred thousand naira to pay for the release of his boat.
It was gathered that the wooden boat containing 80 drums of illegally refined products was seized during a clampdown of illegal oil activity in the state.
However, the suspect in a chat with journalists denied the allegation.
According to him, the money was not meant to bribe the commander, adding that the boat belongs to his friend.
