The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged external interference ahead of its planned national convention, claiming that the venue provider has come under pressure to withdraw its services.
In a statement, the party said that after fulfilling all financial obligations and completing preparations for the event scheduled for tomorrow, the owner of the Rainbow Event Centre informed them of alleged threats from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
According to the ADC, the venue owner was warned that his licence could be revoked if he proceeds to host the party’s convention.
Despite the development, the party maintained that it has a valid contract with the facility and will go ahead with the convention as planned at the Rainbow Event Centre.
The ADC condemned what it described as “creeping tyranny,” vowing not to succumb to intimidation or pressure.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the FCDA or the FCT Minister regarding the allegations.
