The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has announced plans to rally churches across Rivers State to take a more active role in shaping political leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group revealed that it has inaugurated its Directorate of Politics and Good Governance (DPG) to begin sensitising Christians on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for the polls.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, the PFN State Chairman, Rev. Dr. Minaibi Dagogo-Jack, said efforts are underway to mobilise church members to support a preferred candidate, who will be unveiled at the appropriate time.
Dagogo-Jack noted that with approximately 3.5 million registered voters in the state—many of whom are Pentecostal Christians—combined support from other Christian denominations could significantly influence the election outcome.
He added that the newly inaugurated DPG officers, drawn from wards and local government areas, will drive the initiative at the grassroots level.
Highlighting voter apathy, Dagogo-Jack pointed out that only about 303,000 votes determined the last governorship election—less than 10 percent of registered voters—stressing the need for greater civic participation to ensure credible leadership
