The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, says it would redeem her 50 per cent financial obligation to the Eastern Bypass dual carriage road, as soon as its budget for 2022 is released.
Effiong Akwa, Interim Administrator of the Commission, made this known during the commissioning of the road in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
Effiong, while reacting to Governor, Nyesom Wike’s statement that the commission was yet to remit its counterpart fund, assured the state government that the commission would redeem her pledge.
He also noted that the commission will continue to partner state governments of the region to deliver more quality projects in the region.
“We will always partner with the state governments of the region to deliver quality projects, as evident in what we are witnessing today, for the benefit of the people of this great region,” he said.
“NDDC’s counterpart fund for the construction of this important road is already captured in the 2022 budget. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to keeping our promise,” he added.
