The Ogoni Youths Stakeholders Forum has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Ogoni Development Commission (ODC), National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to address their concerns over the ongoing Ogoni dialogue on the proposed resumption of oil production in Ogoniland.
At a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the group demanded the immediate publication of the names of the 40 persons reportedly employed by the NNPCL as part of the process.
The youths also called for the inclusion of qualified Ogoni youths in the dialogue, insisting that they must have a meaningful role in discussions concerning the future of their homeland.
They further demanded the publication of all projects approved for Ogoniland, including the names of the contractors handling them.
The forum warned that failure to meet its demands within 14 days would leave it with no option but to pursue legal and mass action.
The stakeholders said their demands were aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and meaningful participation of the Ogoni people in decisions affecting the region.
