The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Abinye Blessing Pepple, has donated ₦1 million to support the 11th Annual Bonny Island Spelling Bee Competition.
Office of Media and Communications, Bonny Local Government Council, said the competition, organised by the Youth Resource Centre, was held on Saturday.
Pepple, who was represented at the event by the Supervisor for Education, Comr. Sofiri Benneth Manilla Pepple, commended the organisers, participating schools, teachers, parents and students for their efforts in promoting academic excellence.
He said the financial support was aimed at strengthening the initiative, which provides a platform for nurturing young talents and encouraging educational development in Bonny Local Government Area.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Service to Humanity to the council chairman in recognition of his contributions to community development and support for education.
