Nollywood actress and filmmaker Esther Nkem Okereke has secured the presidential ticket of the National Rescue Movement, becoming the party’s candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Okereke, who has built a successful career in the film industry, emerged as the party’s sole aspirant following a successful screening process. Her emergence marks a historic milestone as she becomes the first woman to fly the NRM’s presidential flag.
With her nomination confirmed on May 29, Okereke is expected to join the 2027 presidential race alongside incumbent President Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress.
Her candidacy signals a new chapter for the NRM as it prepares for the forthcoming general election.
