A young breastfeeding mother has reportedly been beaten to death by her husband in in Ogbogoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State,
According to eyewitnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity, the deceased was allegedly assaulted by her husband during a domestic altercation. The witnesses claimed that after realizing the woman had died, the suspect fled the scene, abandoning both the victim and their three-month-old baby.
Residents reportedly made efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect, but all attempts proved unsuccessful.
As of the time of filing this report, the infant has been taken into the custody of the deceased’s younger sister, while the victim’s body remained at the scene inside a commercial tricycle (popularly known as a keke), as seen in a video circulating online.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, and details surrounding the circumstances that led to the alleged assault remain unclear.
