Katsina United has denied reports that its player, Chinedu Ozor, regained consciousness after he was pronounced dead and taken to a mortuary.
Ozor, who recently joined the Katsina-based club, collapsed during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Tuesday.
Following the medical emergency, he was pronounced dead, prompting the club to announce his death and sympathise with his family.
However, reports later emerged that Ozor had shown signs of movement at the mortuary and was taken back to the hospital for further treatment.
Katsina United, in a statement, dismissed the reports as false, explaining that Ozor remained deceased.
The club said the player’s family had requested additional medical verification before his body was transferred to the morgue due to their shock and hope following his death.
It urged the public to disregard claims that Ozor regained consciousness or “came back to life.”
