The Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has announced the ban on inter-sex visit on campus. This is following the rape incident involving three male students and a female student in one of the hostels on campus.
Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Mekuri Ndimele disclosed this in a statement dated October 17, 2020. He directed the registrar of the institution to issue a memo to this effect. He said any student caught flouting the order puts him/herself and the occupants of the room at “high risk.”
Prof. Ndimele equally announced the suspension of the three male students Ovuwu Henry, Samuel Valentine and Nnamdi Destiny who allegedly gang-raped a100 level female student in their hostel.
The VC confirmed that two of the three students have been arrested and are in Police custody, while the third suspect who is on the run is being trailed by the Police. He noted that the matter has also been referred to the Students Disciplinary Committee to decide the fate of the students.
Ndimele who described the incident as shameful said the room where the crime was committed has been sealed off and all occupants sent out of the hostel.
