Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has strongly criticized members of the National Assembly over the proposed law that would penalize individuals for preaching, hawking, or trading inside commercial buses.

Speaking during a church service, Ibiyeomie questioned the lawmakers’ judgment, saying, “I don’t know where they kept their brains,” while reacting to the legislation.

His comments followed the Senate’s passage earlier this week of the redrafted Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which proposes stricter penalties for several road and transit-related offences.

Among its provisions is a ₦50,000 fine for anyone found preaching, hawking, or engaging in commercial activities inside public transport vehicles.
The bill is awaiting President Bola Tinubu’s assent.

Ibiyeomie described the proposed provision as one he believes unfairly targets Christians, warning that its implementation could trigger serious consequences across the country. He insisted that he would not remain silent if the law is enacted, declaring that he would not “be alive and see Christ get humiliated.”

The cleric also criticized some Christian leaders who actively protested government policies during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration but have remained silent on the proposed legislation. He alleged that tribal loyalty and financial benefits from the current administration were responsible for their silence.
