Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is not in good health, arguing that the Nigerian leader should prioritize his well-being rather than seek another term in office.
Speaking in a recent interview, Lawal alleged that Nigerians are aware of the President’s health challenges, referencing Tinubu’s trips to France.
“I’ve said it before. He has done four years; that is enough. He should face his health,” Lawal said.
The former SGF also described Tinubu as someone who is not driven by luxury or material possessions, dismissing claims that the President is obsessed with wealth.
According to him, Tinubu often lived simply, recalling that he would sometimes advise aides against releasing photographs of him because he appeared unkempt.
Lawal further claimed that Tinubu’s preferred meals were modest, consisting of banana and groundnuts or, at times, ogi and moi-moi.
He also alleged that the President was fond of smoking silk cigarettes, stating that he could hardly do without them, although he added that he was unsure whether Tinubu had since quit smoking.
