The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the newly constructed residential quarters for judicial officers are intended to improve their welfare and provide decent accommodation, not to compromise the independence of the judiciary.
Wike made the clarification during the commissioning of the newly built housing estate for Justices of the Court of Appeal in Abuja. He explained that the project was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance the welfare and working conditions of judicial officers across the country.
According to the minister, providing quality housing for judges is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to supporting the judiciary and ensuring that judicial officers carry out their duties in a conducive environment.
He stressed that the initiative should not be misconstrued as an attempt to influence the judiciary, insisting that the project was solely designed to improve the welfare and living standards of judicial officers.
