MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Now the serpent was more subtle than any other wild creature that the Lord God has made. He said to the woman “Did God say, “You shall not eat any tree of the garden “? (Gen.3: 1)
READ: GENESIS 3: 1-7
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Spiritual sensitivity simply means spiritual alertness that enables one to decode spiritual signals and respond promptly. Unfortunately, most of the pitfalls we experience in life happen when spiritual signals are taken for granted. We were not told in the book of Genesis that God gave the animals the ability to communicate in human language. Again, before Eve was created, the Bible simply told us that for Adam there were not found a suitable companion (Gen.2:20). Eve was not sensitive enough to understand that a speaking serpent was abnormal, no matter the message it had to communicate. She was so free talking to this stranger about her doubt as if it was her pastor.
Knowing who to talk to, when to speak and when to refrain from talking is a great virtue. Spiritual sensitivity is the ability to investigate matters putting spiritual principles to work. A short period of spiritual insensitivity can lead to a life time of pain and regrets because Satan is a spoiler and a terrible sadist. The story of our first parent is the most suitable proof of this.
TURNING POINT: A short period of spiritual insensitivity can lead to a life time of pain and regrets because Satan is a spoiler and a terrible sadist.
PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, open my eyes that I may see clearly.
